Doesn’t it seem far fetched that every single surah is preserved word to word? Not every surah would be recited very day. Even if they recited one surah in each salah that’s only 5 surah a day. Surely these people didn’t have superhuman memory and remembered whether it could’ve been فاذا جاء رسولهم or واذا جاء رسولهم with pinpoint accuracy. Who has memory so good? Even huffadh nowadays have to reconcile by looking at a written mushaf.

Instead of stretching our imagination on speculative ideas, it would be more beneficial to look at the available evidence. If your hypothesis was correct then we would surely find many such inconsistencies in the text of the Quran across different regions of the world spanning the last 1400 years.

There are several other codices of the Quran, however, there’s only one (the final compilation) that’s transmitted through ijma and tawatur. This is what’s also referred to in the Quran itself in verses 75:16-19.
