My question is regarding the politics and history around the time of american civil war and the issue of slavery in the U.S. Where would ghamidi stand during that era in the U.S. when the tensions regarding slavery were rising. The sotherners and northerners hated each other. It is not clear who was right or wrong…
In retrospect, a lot of things might appear to be ambiguous, however, it doesn’t mean that it was impossible for people who lived through that time to make moral judgments.
Our test is mainly in the domain of our own moral decisions, so we should remain focused on that. If certain things in history are unclear, it might be because we don’t have enough / accurate information, or we haven’t been able to properly analyze our information. Either way, we can spend more effort in that direction; if not we always have the choice to not have any strong opinions about such matters.
