I completely agree that greater attention should be paid to this matter and parents should be encouraged to be more kind, loving and compassionate towards young people fighting these desires. This is a test and they need help and counselling in this regard. The best thing is to reach out to medical and psychological experts.
As from religious perspective, Quran’s guidance is clear in this regard as with all other tests. One should be patient and seek Allah’s help through his remembrance and prayers. Parents and others should learn from the life and actions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and know that he always treated such people with kindness and support.-
