  • Is Zakat Obligatory On Widows?

If a widow woman possesses some jewelry, is zakat obligatory on her? She receives a small amount of money from her child every month. Should she be giving zakat? Additionally, would the zakat amount be calculated on her jewelry as well? Can her child give zakat on her behalf? She doesn’t have enough to give in zakat if she took the jewelry amount to calculate it and would have to sell some jewelry.

There’s no 2.5% yearly assets zakat on personal items, including jewelry. Moreover, one must meet the nisab in order for them to be liable for zakat.

The production zakat is on earnings as a result of labor and/or investments and can be 5% or 10%. The money received from children is not considered earnings. However, if all or part of that money is saved, it will incur 2.5% asset zakat once a year.

Please enter appropriate numbers in our Zakat Calculator after reading description for each box. When you reach the end, it will generate a statement showing you exactly what percentage is applied to what and how much you owe, if anything. It’s also a great way to learn the sharia of zakat.
