Dua, Morality, And COVID Vaccination
Posted by Sohail Kouser on April 27, 2021 at 1:44 pmMy question is that those who are vaccinating are getting results and those who are talking about morality and duas are not getting results. How is this possible?

Dr. Irfan Shahzad
Scholar April 27, 2021 at 2:30 pmGod is not bound to do as we ask for in prayer. He acts according to His knowledge and wisdom.
He has created the world of possibilities . So it is His system of cause and effect which is producing cure for the pandemic. If one ignores his system of cause and effect and wait for miracles or His direct involvement will not face the consequences of his behavior as God has made no such promise that He will give one exactly one wishes for in this world.

Moderator April 27, 2021 at 2:34 pmBecause this world is based on general principle of effort and tadbeer. Tawakkul (faith) on tadbeer (effort) and prayers come later when one has exhausted all their options and not before. And this tawakkul means that a person has faith in Allah and he/she has exhausted all their effort in achieving the result, now it is up to Allah to make that tadbeer effective.
Following videos shed some light on the said matter:

Thanks for your answer.
How is that God less societies with no faith but on the basis of JUST tadbeer able to get results so isn’t faith and dua irrelevant as remarkable tangible results can be achieved without it and the focus should be on improving our effforts to get better results instead of asking supernatural for results which are vague and subjective.
Isnt this misfocus on supernatural and moral answers to natural phenomenon resulted in the decline of scientific discoveries among muslims!.
Thanks

As has been stated by Irfan Shehzad sahab and Umer Qureshi sahab, this universe has been created by God on the principle of cause and effect. However, He may also intervene according to His knowledge and wisdom, and He also listens to our prayers.
Just because those who ONLY work towards the physical remedies to a problem and achieve desired results doesn’t mean that we should follow the same. On the other hand, we shouldn’t just pray and hope for everything to be magically taken care of. We must do both. The reason for this is that while the ultimate purpose of our lives is still to attain the paradise in the hereafter, we must also live in this world in order for our tests to unfold. Our religion teaches us to do everything we can to save our lives as well as of others.
Decline in the scientific discoveries of Muslims is a complex matter. While the issue you pointed out is one of the causes, it certainly isn’t the only cause.
