In Surat 33 Verse 33, the wives of the Prophet PBUH have been asked to remain in their homes and in 33:53 they have been asked to speak to men behind a curtain. Were these temporary measures, because I have read that after the death of the Prophet PBUH Hazrat Aisha became a scholar, debated laws with male companions and narrated thousands of hadiths. Also she participated in the Battle of the Camel and gave speeches and led troops on the back of her camel.

Yes. These were specific measure given against the hypocrites who were scandalizing the house of the prophet.

However the wives kept observing Hijab after the prophet. To debate or teach men was not against observing Hijab.

However when she found it necessary to go out to serve her community and Islam she played her role.
