Abraham AS Asking To Ask An Idol
SALAM!
My question is I’ve read the story of prophet IBRAHIM and the idols. The story explains that how IBRAHIM (AS) breaks all the idols in the temple and puts the hammer( or something) on the hands of the biggest idol. When the people gather around the broken idols and IBRAHIM. They ask him about what he did and why? Prophet Ibrahim responds by pointing towards the big idol who was holding the hammer to ask him about what had happened or he did. I don’t remember this story exactly. My question is why did IBRAHIM tell them to ask the idol. While all of them knew that IDOL doesn’t talk. They are just a symbolic expression for their GOD. It is like saying ask ALLAH SWT(directly) to know the truth. We all know that ALLAH SWT won’t reply back.
May Allah SWT guide me in this matter.
