In Islam, how many children should one reproduce? If someone/couple does not want to reproduce at all, is that a sin? Or if it depends on the reason for not-reproducing? (Answers with references from Quran will be highly appreciated). Thank you !

To my knowledge Quran doesn’t state or recommends how many children to reproduce, but does emphasize to raise them as good Muslims or good person. So based on that a couple can decide how many children they can handle to dedicate enough time and resource to raise them as good Muslims.

Marriage in Quran and Islam is to make a family and to raise children. It is important that sooner or later having children need to be in the plan. I think a marriage will either be disliked or perhaps it won’t be considered a marriage if the intention was never to have children.

Regarding reference to a specific Ayah for both the answers above, all this is not in a single ayah but the message is spread over several ayahs at various locations.
