    Assalam o Alaikum!

I sold the jewelry of my wife with her permission for some family needs which was given as a “Haq mehr” at the time of Nikkah.

Some time my wife reminds me about the jewelry.

Is it compulsory for me to make arrangement of jewelry for my wife as it was given as ” haq mehr”?

    Thanks in advance.

In principle, if the jewelry was given to you as a loan or if you promised to buy her similar jewelry later then you must give her back what you borrowed. In family matters with a sense of urgency wives normally do not set explicit conditions at the time of offering to help with their assets. With that in mind, even if there was no understanding of loan at the time she offered to help, it will be advisable that you give her back something similar if you can afford to do so.
