There is a that person is insisting on committing sagira sins (sadd-e-zariya) knowingly with misconception that Allah will ultimately forgive all minor sins (as long as he avoids kabira sins – Qur’an 4:31).

Afterwards he is warned that is becoming sarkash for insisting upon the sin knowingly and that sarkash will not enter Paradise, upon which he immediately repents and return to Allah.

    1. Will such a person be forgiven for returning to Allah immediately after being reminded, considering the case is of sarkashi?

    2. Was such a person even sarkash or was he just mistaken/jahil?

    1) As soon as one realizes his mistake and repents immediately then it is Allah’s sunnat to forgive him:

    2) I think it depends upon the knowledge of that person, if such person was knowingly transgressing his bounds out of sheer arrogance, then definitely it’s sarkashi; but if the person genuinely believes that this is what Quran verses really mean or this is the actual intenet behind those verses, then it’s not sarkashi atleast.

This may be add further insight:

Can you further elaborate what is meant by arrogance in this context? I heard Ghamidi Sahab explain it as rejecting the truth knowingly but if a Muslim, who has accepted the truth, is insisting upon a sin is still sarkash? Even if he obediently follows all other directives and accepts that he is not challenging Allah, just that he might be forgiven since his Lord is very forgiving? Is such a Muslim still acting out of sheer arrogance?

We have no way of knowing whether that person is acting out of sheer arrogance or not. It is the attitude of that person which can be studied in this regard. For example, if that person is insisting upon committing sins without any remorse or repentance on his part, then it’s definitely a sarkash atitude. However, we cannot label that person as a Sarkash person, since it is not our domain to do so. We can point him towards the right direction from time to time. But if that person is basing his attitude from a Quranic verse and concludes this interpretation of that verse, we will point the flaw in his understanding and then attitude may not be catgorized as a sarkash attitude. However, it is hard to believe that a conscious Muslim would be so comfortable in committing even smaller sins without feeling any guilt or remorse on his part.

Issue with such Muslims is that they are either addicted to the sin or in a situation where they can’t escape the sin easily, they try to reduce the sin but not perfectly eliminate it from their lifestyle. They are guilty and remorse but they believe, in their current situation, Allah will forgive them since they feel guilty and that they avoided the larger sins, believing Allah has made their situation easier with verse 4:31.

As long as they are trying and repenting to Allah, verse 4:31 is a glad tiding for such Muslims.

but in other discussions sir @UmerQureshi explained every time that sad e zariya will be forgiven automatically if one stay away from minor sin. Like watching adult stuff a lot of teenagers do but they don’t commit zina. females attend events functions by wearing jewelry and good clothes which is also sad e zariya and in society no females attends function in abaya even Brides on their wedding prepared and sit in front of everyone. Will they be not forgiven if they don’t commit criminal sins like adultery. They know its wrong but will not ALLAH forgive them?
