  • Non-muslims Preaching Their Religion In A Muslim Country

We see that Muslims all over the world give dawah for Islam. From Europe to America there are thousands of dawah groups that preach Islam. These groups or individuals are given complete freedom by the western governments to preach their religion.

On the other hand we see that non-muslims living in Muslim majority countries have no such freedom. They cannot even openly practice their own religion in some Muslim societies.

My question is why Muslims are so afraid to allow space for other religions ? Also in Quran or Hadith I didn’t find anything which allows for non-muslims to preach their religion in Muslim lands.

Many people both non-Muslims as well as some Muslim have this misunderstanding that Islam doesn’t allow non-Muslims to preach their religion or views in a Islamic country. This view has no basis at all in Quran or even in the hadith literature. Islam has granted ultimate freedom of religion and thought to all the communities in the world because according to Quran God has brought forth this world with the scheme that humans should be free to choose whatever they want – whether right or wrong. If they consciously choose right and do good they will be rewarded by God in the hereafter. If they consciously choose wrong and do evil they would be punished by God in the hereafter for choosing and doing evil. Quran mentions:

There is no compulsion [from God] in religion. The fact is, guidance is now totally distinct from error. So he who renounces Satan and believes in God, it is as if he grasps a strong rope which can never break and [this is because] God hears all and knows all. (Al-Quran, 2:256)

Islam has no restrictions for people of other religions to preach their religion.
