    No it’s not mandatory to perform ghusl specifically for the Friday prayers, however, it is recommended.

    Ghusul or ceremonial bath is required before any salat in the following instances:

    1. Ejaculation through sexual intercourse or otherwise. This can happen while awake or in sleep. A small involuntary discharge after urination it doesn’t require ghusl.

    2. Menstruation or puerperal discharge.

    Just to add one more thing: “The act of copulation with wife also necessitates the cermonial bath, irrespective of whether one has ejaculated or not“.
