  Wedding Gifts

  Dear Sir,

  We are 1 sister and 2 brothers. We are all married. Our mother is still alive.

  I got martied first. My family is always comparing that I got more jewellery on my wedding. More money was spent on my wedding.

  I may have got more jewellery but it was given to me as gift from my mother. My brothers also got a lot.

  Please advise what should I do?

  I am a single mother now raising 2 daughters without any support.

    Should I return the extra gold or gifts to the family or can I keep them?

    Are wedding gifts part of ‘Wirasat’?

    Returning or keeping gifts is solely your discretion, you are under no religious obligation to return your wedding gifts.

    And they do not become part of your wirasat share.
