    Al-Anbiya’, Ayah 72

Just curious why Allah Ta’ala not include Hazrat Ismael (ES) in this list of sons? Have I missed something? (Personally my memory is iffy …). Please guide. JazakAllah

You may want to refer to Surah Saffat (Chapter 37) – Verses (102 to 113), where Prophets Ismael (sws) and Ishaq (sws) are both mentioned one by one in ample detail:

The reason why there’s no mention of Prophet Ismael (sws) in Surah Anbiya (Chapter 21) – Verse 72 has to do with the context of previous verse (i.e. verse 71) where reference has been made to land of palestine, and Prophets Ishaq (sws) and Yaqoob (sws) are representative prophets of that land and forefathers of Bani-Israel, who were given that land. The use of word ‘imamat‘ in verse-73 also points to this fact.
