Is dating for the purpose of marriage without any physical contact allowed in Islam, or do muslims have no say in choosing their partners and only there parents can do it for them?

Quran has not asked us to obey every command of parents, instead, we are required to deal with them in a good manner (husn-e- salook) and can disagree with their decisions in a polite and respectful manner. Marriage is solely the decision of man and woman who choose to tie the knot and is not affected by what parents demand. There is no prohibition in man and woman meeting before the marriage to understand eachother, however, this should be done within bounds set by the religion. Nothing should be done that can lead toward adultery.
