I think I might be over thinking but someone told me that obtaining citizenship of non muslim countries is not halal as when you take oath, you are actually accepting their secular beliefs and you take oath to join them in their beliefs. However I just read oath of Australian citizenship and none of it seem like that it is wrong. I am just quoting oath to be more clear:

From this time forward,I pledge my loyalty to Australia and its people, whose democratic beliefs I share, whose rights and liberties I respect, and whose laws I will uphold and obey.”

I don’t see any problem in living in these countries as long as I can practise my religion freely. However I am not sure why so many islamic scholars are against it and even says that its haram.

Please guide me in this regards especially Muslims living in Australia as citizens. Also is it allowed to live in non muslim countries so you can have better life?
