While giving darse Quran many Imam’s states certain certain ayath are revealed in respect of certain certain person . Are we to accept it as hundred percent correct or is there any way that one can question it’s authenticity?

It was a way of the companions to tell a the scope of the verse can be applied to a certain person or an event. but later, it was taken as if the verse was actually revealed in their perspective. Quran itself through its context alludes to its perspective.
