  • Swallowing Food And The Validity Of Prayer

    Asalamualaikum,

I want to ask some questions regarding swallowing food and the validity of prayer.

    1. I’ve read that swallowing a food particle larger than the size of a chickpea invalidates prayer – is this true?

    2. If someone has just eaten a meal and has the taste of that meal in their mouth, is it okay to be swallow this saliva during prayer? What if there are food particles stuck between the teeth that may be adding to the taste of this saliva?

    3. Does mucus or phlegm fall under the category of food – are they also impermissible to swallow?

    JazakAllah!
