If government should not interfere in the religion of the people then why Ghamidi sahib never comments about the government of Pakistan declaring Qadianis or Ahmadis as non Muslims in their constitution. Could he please share his views about targeted persecution of this sect by the state of Pakistan?

Ghamidi sahab has never stated that a government should not interfere in the religion of its people. What he has explained is that in a nation state all people regardless of their religion are equal.

With that said, Ghamidi sahab is probably the only Pakistani religious scholar who has been very outspoken about the persecution of Ahmadis for a very long time.

Hopefully the following short videos will help:

So are you of the opinion that Ghamidi sahib thinks that declaring someone Muslim or non Muslim is responsibility of the government ? He clearly states that government should not interfere in personal matters of individual. Please refer to the recent talk about Saudi government.

Please convey this question up to the scholar himself so he should clear his views on government declaring any citizen Muslim or non Muslim regardless of his or her beliefs.

Your question specifically stated religion, not personal matters and that’s what I responded to along with videos of Ghamidi sahab. A government led by Muslims does have the right to enforce certain religious injunctions. For example, the government has the right to enforce zakat upon it’s Muslim citizens. Also please refer to the following for Ghamidi sahab’s direct comments in this matter:

It clearly shows that Islamic government can only implement 2 matters. Namaz and zakat. Nothing else

That is correct in regards to ijabi (positive) legislation.
