Assalamualaikum
We read that after the death of Prophet Muhammad SAW’s uncle Abu Talib,Prophet SAW went to taif. So did he went for protection(that was a tribal society and you must associate yourself with some tribe to protect yourself) because banu hashim abandoned him or what?(While coming back near Makkah Mut’am Bin Adi gave him protection).

It seems that the prophet was looking for a place to migrate. Taif was an option where mighty tribes lived.
