No it doesn’t invalidate your prayers.

عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَتْ: سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ،۱ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: ’’مَنْ أَتَى عَرَّافًا لَمْ تُقْبَلْ لَهُ صَلاةٌ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً‘‘.
صفیہ بنت ابو عبید سے روایت ہے،وہ کہتی ہیں :میں نے عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا، وہ بیان کرتے تھے کہ اُنھوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سنا کہ آپ نے فرمایا:جو شخص کسی نجومی کے پاس جائےکہ اُس سے کوئی سوال پوچھے، اُس کی چالیس شب و روز کی نمازیں قبول نہیں کی جاتیں[1]۔

[1] ۔ یعنی اِس گناہ کی سزا کے طور پر۔ اِس سے اندازہ کیا جا سکتا ہے کہ اوہام کی پیروی کا معاملہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے نزدیک کیسا سخت ہے۔ سورۂ بنی اسرائیل (۱۷) کی آیات ۲۲ – ۳۹ میں اِس کا ذکر اِسی بنا پر اُن دس احکام میں ہوا ہے جو اخلاق کے فضائل و رذائل میں اصل کی حیثیت رکھتے ہیں۔

۔اِس روایت کا متن المعجم الاوسط،طبرانی،رقم۹۴۰۵ سے لیا گیا ہے۔اِس کے راوی عمر رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں۔ عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کے علاوہ یہی مضمون رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بعض ازواج سے بھی نقل ہوا ہے۔اُن سے اِس کے مصادر یہ ہیں:

It is narrated on the authority of Safiyya bint Abu Ubaid that she said: I heard Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrate that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say: Whoever goes to an astrologer to ask him any question, his forty night and day prayers are not accepted.

It is then going to an astrologer and asking right? Not watching movies ?

The condemnation is of the act where one goes to an astrologer and believes in his fortune-telling as it would tantamount to “following of speculations” which is forbidden in Quran and it can ultimately lead to polytheism. Therefore, this Hadith is telling us that one should remain cautious even at the first step of it as one is following a course of action that has no scientific basis to support it and is merely based on speculations that have a polytheistic nature.
This has nothing to do with watching magic movies or similar things.

What about watching astrologer or fortune telling movies?

I think it doesn’t matter what you watch. The priniciple is not to believe in fortune tellers. So If you don’t believe in any fortune telling movies or movies based on astrology then I think there is no harm in it.

If i watch for example fortune telling movie or a fortune telling youtube video my prayer will not be invalidated for 40 days?

I think It depends brother. If you watch fortune tellings videos or movies to know your fortune or others then it will be wrong. But If you watch with a different perspective then I don’t think this will invalidate your prayers. Example:- If someone watch fortune telling movies for entertainment or for knowledge then there is no harm in it until and unless one is not believing in it. A muslim can read or study hinduism, judaism, atheism but it doesn’t mean he will believe in it .
