    Walikumaslam,
Denying truth after realising it was truth is kufr.

Thank you sir. I read Irfan sahab’s response too

My question is , denying what truth constitutes kufr? Denying Islam in its entirety, or one or mor of its basic tenets , or just a verse of the Qur’an ?

Does insisting that a verse of the Qur’an has a certain meaning to fit it in ones narrative while there’s stronger proof that the real meaning of the verse is something else constitute kufr or just deviancy (gumrahi)?

      Thank you

denying truth after one realises it be truth and behaving in violation of what truth requires is Kufr. Kufr is in fact rebellious attitude. and every rebellious attitude is announced to have the same punishment: eternal hell. therefore this same punishment is announced not only for polytheism, but also for murderer and violating and transgression the bounds of God (Huduoodullah) See 4: 93 and 4: 14.

Thanks for your reply , sir

So is it only for serious stuff like shirk, murder etc. and not stuff like having a different interpretation of a Qur’anic verse that doesn’t deal with the most fundamental aspects of religion like aqeedah etc. ?

Because some Muslims accuse each other of kufr these days just because they belong to a different sect and as we know sects mostly come into being due to the difference in the interpretations of Quranic verses and Ahadith.

Stuff like “if you don’t believe that xyz is a fard (obligation) in Islam, you’re a Kaafir”.

You’re right, honest differences arising out of different interpretations of a religious text doesn’t constitute Kufr. It is the attitude with which one is sticking to one point of view which decides such a rebellious attitude, whether one is doing it with an honest understanding or one is is doing it because of some bias and prejudice, the latter will result in a rebellious attitude and the former will not.

So does the latter apply to even minor stuff?

It is Allah’s domain to decide whether one is rebellious or not, we can only point out a mistake in one’s understanding.

In matters of differences in interpetation (‘Taweel‘) of basic tenets of religion, the right word would be ‘Gumrahi‘ / ‘zalalat‘ for that interpretation.

Please refer to the video of Ghamidi Sahab shared below.

      Thank you

I was asking about things which are not the basic tenets of religion like beard, hijab etc.

Use of such words is not appropriate for such differences, they could simply be called right or wrong.
