    Asalamoalaikum

Why do we sometimes feel gloomy, or distress, even though we might worship Allah SWT with our purest intentions on a daily basis? Should we not feel happy after doing such activities?

Would this be one of our tests of faith in this world, to see how we make use of a situation as stated above?

There’s nothing in this world that guarantees permanent happiness. No one in the entire known history of mankind, regardless of their achievements, social status, or wealth, has ever been able to permanently escape sorrow and pain. If there was anything at all that would guarantee permanent happiness then this world would no longer remain to be a suitable place to serve its intended purpose of testing human beings.

How to we prevent this feeling of distress from taking over us, and causing us to forget our initial purpose in life ( worship of Allah SWT )?

It seems sort of hard in this day and age.

We should try to make a strong connection with God by repeatedly making a conscious effort to read and understand His message, as well as involving ourselves in deeds that He has prescribed.

Of course, this won’t completely prevent pain and sorrow, but it gradually helps us to see our lives in proper perspective thereby providing us with the needed strength to productively deal with it.
