it will deviate a little from the topic, but this verses of the Qur’an “Ask them [O God’s Messenger]: “Who has forbidden you the adornments which the Almighty has created for His servants, and who has forbidden the wholesome among the edibles?” Tell [them]: “They are for the believers in this world [but God has also given the disbelievers a share in them]; but on the Day of Judgement, they shall be theirs alone”.In these verses adornment is mentioned and I have also asked the question separately what are the adornments created by God which He has mentioned in the Qur’an, if not then does bodybuilding also fall in the category of adornment. Because even in this man makes himself beautiful?

Bodybuilding is not inherently haram unless it leads to harm others, fuhush or arrogance. See Discussion 65896

Adornment (zeenat) here refers to something which is applied from external sources to/on the body to beautify oneself, like clothes, jewellery etc. Body Building results in physical change inside the body because of the physical excercise, whose results become a part of one’s existence. Therefore, word zeenat cannot be applied here.

@UmerQureshi If bodybuilding does not even fall into the category of adornment, then what is the purpose of God giving it to man? This is my exact question that is actually make me confuse.

Human beings have been given ability, resources and consciousness to find their potential and achieve its epitome. It gives us a worldly purpose in life, and all religion asks is to stay pure (achieve tazkiya) while following this worldly purpose of life (whether it be to become a body builder for some and scientist for another etc.), for another life which will begin after this one.

Of course, man is a great creation in terms of abilities, but there seems to be no reason to have big muscles, that is, no solid reason, because this world is based on reason and effect, or if God did not create anything meaningless. Then the purpose of providing large muscle was not understood

There is no religious compulsion to pursue body building. These matters have been left to one’s own discretion.

They provide both diversity and versatility to this world while accomodating varying skillsets of people in this world at the same time; to provide a platform to every individual according to their skillset to polish their abilities and take a part in the overall scheme of tests and trials in this world; which cannot be achieved without indulging in this world.

What you are saying is that the scheme of this test of God would not be complete if He did not put man to the test in these matters. And then it is up to man whether he is thankful to God after seeing these things ie body building or other activities or if he gets bored.

@UmerQureshi Or we can say that just like the rest of God’s laws are working in this world, so is God’s law that whoever wants to beautify the body will have to do so and so.

Yes, you can say like that.
