    We know from the Quran that Prophet Muhammad SAW followed the Abrahamic tradition (Deen-e-Hanif) even before prophethood, which is the religion of all prophets. Islam did not start with Prophet Muhammad, but in fact it started with Prophet Adam SAW. Prophet Muhammad is the last messenger of Islam, while the Quran is the last revealed book of Islam.

      So what was the reason for sending last prophet when Deen-e-Hainf was already present among the Arabs.

      Deen-e-Hanif doesn’t mean that each and every detail of religion was preserved, it is the basic structure which was still intact. There was need for last messenger to preserve a final book of Inzar and to make the incident of Shahdah (itmam-e-hujjat/ completion of proof) of the last prophet an event of known history for the rest of the mankind till the day of judgement.
