As a principle, if a large of quantity of something intoxicates then smallest amount will be forbidden too.

      Salam brother,

Many big scholars says that this Hadith was particularly for Alcohol.

Many scholar says in small amount Nutmeg is ok. What is the opinion box Ghamidi sir in this?

The main problem is Nutmeg is everywhere. From cake to chicken. Like this it will be very difficult to ignore Nutmeg.

Most scholar consider it haram including maliki, shafi and salfi.

The principle of forbidding alcohol is its ability to intoxicate. Hence in principle anyting which can intoxicate will come under same ruling.

If in cooking it changes its form and cannot intoxicate then its ok to eat.

Being everywhere is not an argument for permissibility. This world is a test. We have to chose wisely not our whims and desire.

But brother, Islam is religion of ease. Also there are different laws for hardship.

Also, shafi and Malik says little Nutmeg is allowed. Also, little Nutmeg mixed with other thing allowed in Mecca/Medina.

See the attached image from a book The Journal of Legal Pluralism page 106 where they have written all school consider it haram.

Saudi web also dont recommend it https://islamqa.info/en/answers/39408/ruling-on-selling-and-using-nutmeg

As I said earlier, if it changes its form and cannot intoxicate in large quantities then there is no problem but you need to be sure about it. if unsure, I myself will abstain from it to be on safe side.

Again, availability in Mecca/madina is not an argument for permissibility. it should be in accordance withthe principles determined by Quran and sunnah.

What is nutmeg? Is it not a dry fruit? If it is something else like tobacco or morphine etc then may be considered haram.

Oh it’s part of garam masala called jaiphal in Urdu. (Google) There is nothing causing intoxication in it and nothing which causes loss of consciousness. All essential oils in large quantity are harmful and may cause damage to various body organs like kidneys. I don’t know how one can declare it haram. Khskhas may cause drowsiness but is commonly used in food. Even that is not declared haram. Then how and who has declared it haram.

Brother, actually some people accidentally ate it in little high quantity and reported dizziness and intoxicated. So from last some 100 years only we found it may be intoxicated.

Also, khaskhas itself is not intoxicated. Aafim is different. And eating khaskhas does not intoxicate. Because my childhood survived on khaskhas
