ASSALAMUALAIKUM
Today we know that on the name of religion (including Islam) people have done many fights and conflicts. So being as a Muslim and knowing that this Islam jihadists are showing is not the real Islam. But in assignments and projects in schools and universities, would it be right to say that “religion has been a big contributor in causing conflicts”?

It varies. Sometimes your assignment asks you to take a certain position, and at other times you’re required to take a position that you believe in. If the latter then you should complete your assignment according to your own beliefs.

You can make it more factual by adding “wrong interpretations of religion…” at the start of your topic.
