    ASSALAMUALAIKUM

As an example for understanding concept: Ghamidi sahab took a Hadith in his book Mizan:

Abu Musa al-Ash‘ari (rta) narrates that once a person came to the Prophet (sws) and said that some people fight for the spoils of war, some for fame and some to show off their valour; he then asked the Prophet (sws): “Which one of them fights in the way of Allah?” The Prophet (sws) replied: “Only that person fights in the way of Allah who sets foot in the battlefield to raise high the name of Allah.”

Like if a person still doesn’t do or want to have intention for fame or money, but still he knows that in the result of doing Jihad he will absolutely get money and fame. And this is a natural thing, a person can’t avoid that in heart. So still in heart he has good feeling of fame and money by nature, but he don’t want it. So what should he do?

Same feelings one may have for every act of good. Since these are not his aim, so these will not affect his reward or purity of his intention. To have them at the back of your mind is not a bad thing.
