Now a days, Intermittent Fasting is quite popular for weight loss and health benefits, can we do it from the niyat of a nafal roza and get both the benefits?

Fasting is for Allah and the primary purpose of it as stated in Quran 2:183 is so that we may become God conscious. If there are other worldly benefits to any of the worship rituals then they are secondary in nature. All worship rituals, including fasting, should be carried out for Allah with the intention of achieving their primary purpose. If they benefit us in any other manner then that’s just the icing on the cake.

But if the main purpose is losing weight then it won’t count as a fast?

Would you consider someone slaughtering an animal to sell meat as qurbani?
