Influence Of Environment And Genes On Ethics Of A Human Being
Salam
My question is if a person is born in a criminal family and he is been brought up in that environment and his parents are not that good. How that person be judged? As he is not provided a good environment and his values and will power would be different than the person who was brought up nice. My question is how much genes effect in this situation? Or the ikhlaqiyat are encoded in a human being?

The sense of ethics is encoded in human nature. The same man does not like any criminal act done to him. This is the ultimate test, which he cannot refute. So he should not do bad to others too.
However, at some point the influence of environment may provide some excuse, but blatant act of crimes seem to find little excuse. For example, blatant polytheism is not given excuse for being influenced by the environment, same goes for other blatant criminal acts.
[O Prophet!] Remind them of that time too when your Lord had brought forth from the loins [564] of Adam’s children their progeny and had made them testify to themselves. [He had asked:] “Am I not your Lord?” They replied: “Yes, [You alone are our Lord.] We bear witness to it.” [565] This We did lest you should say on the Day of Judgement: “We had no knowledge of this,”
or present this excuse: “Our forefathers had already adopted polytheism and we later became their children; then, will You destroy us on account of what these wrongdoers did?”
In this way, We explain Our revelations so that people are left with no excuse to deny the truth and so that they may return to the right path. 7: 172
