  • Asking Allah For A Sign To Know Something Or Someone's Condition

Salam, I had a question regarding whether or not one can ask Allah for a sign?

For instance suppose I lose a pet, and can’t find it, would it be permissible for me to ask Allah for a sign that tells me that the pet is alright?

Or would having this belief be kufr?

    Not kufr but frivolous.

What if one feels that they have been shown the sign? Would believing that a sign has been shown to them be a contradiction to the belief of finality of Prophethood?

No. This is indefinite and indeterminate way to contact a person by God which is not theway God contacted prophets. True dreams is a channel still functioning from God for his people. So if someone feels that God helped him and fulfilled his Dua in a particular case and he did show him the right decision to make etc he can believe that. Nothing wrong in it
