  • Vastness Of Our Universe And Insignificance Of Human Beings

Posted by Amjad Khan on June 14, 2022 at 8:03 am

Many believe that this universe is billions of years old and humans just arrived recently. There are billions of such galaxies and we are living on a tiny planet in one of them. We are very insignificant as compared to this vast universe. Atheists use this scheme to support their argument that humans overestimate their importance in the vast universe and owe their existence to mere chance in such a vast universe of unlimited possibilities. @UmerQureshi

Also apart from this question, Ghamidi sb answered the similar question in which he told that it was basically the Greek view who used to believe that the universe revolves around them and they are the centre of importance in the universe. If anyone has link to that video that please share it.

It’s true that our universe is much bigger than what we have the instruments to measure. Within such a vast universe, existence of human beings who have been granted moral sense, intellect, as well as aesthetic sense is indicative of a special purpose for human existence, not the other way around.

Any claim needs to be judged on the basis of evidence instead of speculations. If we end up finding several other human-like species in other parts of the universe then a claim regarding insignificance of human beings on earth might have some weight. Until then it remains to be nothing more than just a conjectural assumption.

“And of his signs is the creation of the heavens and earth and what He has dispersed throughout them of creatures. And He, for gathering them when He wills, is competent.” ( Quran )

Due to this verse, lt’s reasonable to believe in the existence of extraterrestrial life in other planets, galaxies, anywhere in the universe for that matter even before its actual discovery.

As for the size of the universe and its vastness, the argument provided by the atheists is based on a feeling of insignificance before the universe. You can follow a feeling with any conclusion as it’s not bound by logical thinking. The Quran says it’s the hearts which are blind. The atheist see the signs of God and deduce the opposite belief in comparison to the believers. This can only be explained by the perversion and spiritual blindness of their hearts.

For me, the insignificance l feel when studying the universe is also a sign of God as to how great the creation of the heavens and the earth is compared to us, as referenced in Quran. The beautiful night sky full of sparkling stars and comets is also a sign of God, its beauty points to the existence of intelligent being responsible for its creation, who we call God. The fact that the entire universe has the exact same laws of nature shows there’s a balance and an inherent intelligence embedded in the universe. This didn’t come from nowhere.

“And Allah created the heavens and earth in truth and so that every soul may be recompensed for what it has earned, and they will not be wronged.” ( Quran )

The atheists are delusional to think God has set the laws of nature in the universe and ignored moral laws and justice for nothingness and mere playfulness. No ! As God has placed a balance in the universe in the form of natural laws, he also has a set of moral laws and a scale of justice. He will reward the good deeds and hold people accountable for their evil deeds.
