Is this hypocrisy or Munaafiqat? Should the person stop sharing the knowledge he comes across with others, would that be better for him?

It is a expected of a Muslim who is not a scholar that his actions and beliefs should match, but it is not something whose mismatch should prevent him from propagating beliefs which he thinks are right. Islam doesn’t compel him to restrict preaching based on this inconsistency between beliefs and actions. However, It is obligatory for a Preacher / Scholar to have no contradiction between what they believe and what they actually do. Whatever ideology or truth they want to preach others should first be practiced by them. Consequently, the Quran reprimands the scholars of the Jews that they in spite of being well-versed with the shariah and knowing full well that as per the dictates of the shariah and those of sense and reason they are much more liable to practicing religion, yet it is a matter of great pity that they vehemently urge the common man to fulfil his obligations and forget their own selves in this regard:
أَتَأْمُرُونَ النَّاسَ بِالْبِرِّ وَتَنسَوْنَ أَنفُسَكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ تَتْلُونَ الْكِتَابَأَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Would you enjoin piety on others and forget it yourselves even though you read the Book. Have you no sense? (Quran 2:44)

Here, Aalim means someone who is publically knows as a scholar/preacher or does it also apply on someone who has received knowledge of Islam himself/self-taught?

‘aalim‘ here means a person who has chosen religious scholarship as full-time career which involves proper religious studies, public speaking, religious research, Dawah etc. and all such related activities.
