Would it be wrong to say that? That for a long time humanity has been mired in religious wars and religious conflicts and one religion after another has come and instead of progressing wars have been fought among themselves which is why it has taken so long for science and technology to come. People in the past never focus on making progress but they fight instead, Even prophets did not gave any hint or say about the beauty of this world and what this world is capable of. I mean when people 500 years ago decided to part ways with religious issues and tgey have started making progress and after those 500 years after , you can see where humanity is stand now.

This is incorrect study of the progress of science. Wars have been a way to make progress in science. Penicillin, atomic energy, internet all came from the motives provided by wars or warlike circumstances.

The people who made great progress in science were religious people. It is true sometimes priests and clerics opposed science, but they could never be effective.

Wars of the past have very small ratio of religious wars. most of the wars like today, were politically driven.

As far as Abrahamic religion is concerned, it did emphasise the use of the beauty of the world. Quran says:

Say: “Who is there to forbid the beauty which God has brought forth for His creatures, and the good things from among the means of sustenance?” Say: “They are [lawful] in the life of this world unto all who have attained to faith – to be theirs alone on Resurrection Day.” Thus clearly do We spell out these messages unto people of [innate] knowledge! (7:32)

It is also not true that all the modern progress is made by only the irreligious scientists.

That’s a misconception. Today’s advances in science stand squarely upon the work of generations from the past, and the work of future generations will rest upon the accomplishments of our generations. This is just how human intellect evolves. Once in a while new breakthroughs speed up the change, as in the case of inventions of wheel, telescope, printing press, internet, etc. There’s nothing more to it.

If so, cite some valuable scientific discoveries from the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) or before, because what I have read so far does not contain the invention of more than one wheel.
