I have started reading the Quran from the beginning but as I progress towards the next chapters I tend to forget the events/stories and lessons that took place in the previous ones since there is a lot of repetition, how can I make mental notes of the core lessons of each chapter? I have the English Quran Translation of Javed Ahmad Ghamidi.

The core lessons are mentioned in the beginning of every couple of Surah in the translation of Quran by Ghamidi saheb.

Once your get familiar with the style of Quran, it will become easier for your to remember the content. You will find the repetition comes with different angles and every time is different.

There are certain ways of arguments in the Quran: these are observational, historical, logical and theological for different addressees. so take help from the book by Dr Shehzad Saleem Introduction to Quran
