When Khawla (RTA) visited Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) for marriage proposal of our prophet, she was told that Hazrat Ayesha’s (RTA) marriage had already been fixed, but since they (Abu Bakr’s family) had accepted Islam the proposal had not made any progress. My question is, that Abu Bakr(RA) was one of the first to accept Islam, when Muhammad (SAW) was around 40 yrs old. This incident occurred when our prophet was around 50 yrs old. Does it mean that marriage of Hazrat Ayesha was fixed before Abu Bakr accepted Islam, i.e. more than 10 years ago. If that is so, how could Ayesha (RTA) be 6 yrs old when our Prophet was around 50 yrs?
