“Mustansir Mir criticised this (in its original Urdu) as ‘needlessly drawn out’ but did not make clear that it is based on a highly implausible reading of the bāʾ and the repetition of the terms al-ḥurr, etc. (see Mir, ‘Some Features’, pp. 236–237).”In this paper and video he argues that Ghamidi’s sahab’s translation of 2:178 is linguistically wrong.

The article does not explain why the translation is linguistically wrong.
Ghamidi sahab has explained this topic in a lot of detail in his book Meezan and accompanying video lectures. You can find it below:
Ghamidi sahab has also published his principles of interpreting the Quran. He can certainly be wrong in his interpretation but an error will either have to pointed out in the principles or the application of those principles. You can find Ghamidi sahab’s principles of understanding the Quran below:

Neither the video, nor the article referenced give any reasons as to which the Arabic cannot be read in this way- just that it can’t. It would be good to contact Dr Saeed for the reasons he finds this linguistically impossible
