  • Is Doing Time Wasting Activities Sin?

Posted by Mohammad Ali Soomro on January 2, 2023 at 9:10 am

    Hello there Assalaam u alaykum.

My question is that is it a sin if someone does some activity for mere time pass, without as such a need. Like a person playing video games in his free time, without missing out on any obligations. Would it be a sin for that person to do activities of time pass? Please also explain with Quranic ayat if possible

Unless there is nothing unethical, the religion does not object to it. It incurs no sin when there is no sin.

It is duty of the person who claims this to be a sin to present Quranic verse to support their argument and not the other way round. Something being a sin should be mentioned explicitly in Quran the way Quran mentions Haram things in Surah 7 Verse 33:

Therefore, it is not a sin.

@Irfan76 @UmerQureshi sir someone told me this and said that in wasting time is ‘laghw’, and a Muslim is to avoid it

laghw is the thing that carries you away from God and religion.
