Can Zakat be spent on building an orphanage or shelter for orphan and homeless children? This is for an existing orphanage/shelter operating for 20 years and registered as a Trust with not for profit status in Pakistan. The trust has been using rented facilities for 20 years but has now acquired land and is trying to construct a building for long term sustainability of its mission.
