In addition to things being run by ‘cause and effect principle‘ in this world, there is principle of ibtila (‘test‘) at play as well, which means that not all happenings of our matters can be described solely in terms of cause and effect, which leads to the concept of luck. Although terms good luck/bad luck are used now a days very loosely and in very vague terms, but there is some basis available which led to these terms. And there is nothing morally objectionable as far as the current usage of these terms is concerned. As a Muslim, we can use these terms, but we should be clear that both principles of cause and effect and Principle of ibtila are subject to Allah’s izn.
