Explanation For Hadith: Man Created In The Image Of God
Assalaamoalaikum. There is a hadis quoted in Bukhari:
He reported God’s Messenger as saying, “When any of you fights he must avoid the face, for God created Adam in His own image.” (Bukhari and Muslim.)

Can you please explain what “created in His image” would mean here?

Man being created in God’s image is a metaphor for man possessing qualities like that of God even though to a much lesser extent. These include qualities like mercy, anger, and sense of justice. When you hit someone in their face they feel disrespected so Prophet SAW has reportedly advised against it.
