By relying on the interpretation of the verses of the Day of Judgment, our understanding of burning and reviving and burning and again… forever can be in view that God is cruel.

is this statement is true “In order to be Muslim and not be a sadist “افراطی”, it is better to believe in the theory of apostolic dreams, because here we interpret the verses based on our religious understanding تعبیر, not interpretation! (تفسیر)”.

if not how can we understand those such above verses of Quran.

I don’t know what Apostolic Dream means. I am not even sure how it distinguishes between understanding and interpretation. In general everything has to be interpreted before being understood. The former is not better than the latter as they are both required for human cognition. Finally, if you are quoting someone please provide proper references.

Thank you so much Mr. Faisal Haroon,

“Apostolic dream رویای رسولانه” is a word that is mentioned by Abdul Karim Sourosh an Iranian religious philosopher, he says that revelation to prophet Muhammad PUH were coming in his dreams so it is symbolic therefore punishments mentioned for the day of judgment in Quran “as stated in my question…” are symbolic we have to interpret (تعبیر) it not (تفسیر). that means Allah SWT will not burn and revive … these punishments are all symbolic.

Such an idea renders itself baseless in the light of the Quran itself. After the very first chapter which serves as a preface, the Quran actually starts with an assurance that this is a book from God and that it has no errors. Then in Chapter 72 (Al-Jinn) God explains the extraordinary measures that were taken for the word of God to reach Prophet SAW through archangel Gabriel without any corruption. Further in Chapter 75 (Al-Qiyamah) God reassures Prophet SAW that the recital and the collection of the Quran is the responsibility of God Himself. Additionally, several times the Quran itself tells us how it is sent down in Arabic so that the direct addressees of the message could understand it easily. I do not think that anyone who has ever read the Quran should have any confusion in this regard.

An expression is literal, abstract, symbolic or allegorical, has to be determined by the expression itself. The use of the word in its syntax and context will determine its meaning and kind. This is the prerequisite to understanding any expression. The same goes for Quran. No foreign theory can be employed to determine the meaning of an expression. This is a wrong approach to understanding a text. Let the text direct our understanding to take its meaning in the sense it is meant for.

If we accept this wrong approach, then why only punishments, every injunction can have a symbolic meaning, as Mr Pervaiz took, like the meaning of al-Salah is not just the prayers, but to establish the system of God’s Rabubiat in the land!

Once again thanks to both of you Sir “Faisal Haroon and Dr. Irfan”, then how can we answer the question is it Justice (those punishments burning and reviving) even-though some one makes partner to Allah SWT. is that not shows that God is cruel.

This punishment is for the rebels, who bargained the hellfire for their worldly priorities. These are not the ones, who accidentally or unknowingly will see Hell.
