Afghan Jihad can be divided into two distinct phases:
1) Period when Soviet Union Attacked Afghanistan and Pakistan along with the help of USA, created independent militant groups like Taliban and supported them unconditionally and then left them in Afghanistan.
2) Period when Usama bin Laden declared Jihad against the Western World in 1998 followed by 9/11 Incident and invasion of USA in Afghanistan till the current time of USA leaving Afghanistan.
