Does Ghamidi Sahab stay up to date with the works of secular scholarship on history and language such as Nicolai Sinai, Michael Macdonald, Ahmad Al-Jallad, Marijn Van Putten, Hythem Sidky, Gabriel Said Reynolds, Sean Anthony, Stephen Shoemaker, Robert Hoyland etc? And does he consider it important? Should Islamic scholars stay up to date with their works?

The primary responsibility of a scholar is Inzar and as a corollary to that inzar, in order to respond to diverse queries of people on religion, a scholar of religion should be up to date and well versed with challenges of modern time including but not limited to new issues surrouding Atheism, Orientalism and other scientific advancements which may or may not have any influence on religion. Infact this is one of the distinguishing factors which separate Scholars of Dabistan-e-Shibli from the rest.
As far as I know, Ghamidi Sahab also stays up to date with significant advancements and researches in these topics.
Infact Dr. Shahzad Saleem responded to one of the criticisms on his book “History of the Quran: A Critical Study” rasied by Marijn van Putten and Hythem Sidky in the following article:
