  • Giving Examples Of Prophets To Normal Muslims

Posted by Abdur Rahman on March 21, 2023 at 12:05 am

Usually all examples of good conducts in quran are from the prophets but prophets were in direct contact with Allah (swt) and hence they have very strong connection and yaqeen about allah and his choice for them if they are in a difficulty or tragedy

Normal muslims don’t have any direct connection with allah and are not on the status of yaqeen or iman as ambiya have.

Generally the verse 2:286 is given in justification that allah will not burden a soul more than its capacity for a normal muslim. Then, My question is –

Asking the normal muslims to behave like prophets. Is this not asking a normal muslim soul to behave more than its status or capacity ? Is this not comparing oranges with apples ?

    Jazakallahu Khairaa.

For the same reason as you mentioned, the criteria of accountability are different for prophets and non-prophets. A prophet has to face if he did any wrong or fails to fulfill the required level, let alone a sin, as we see in the case of the prophet Yunus, who was detained in the belly of a fish. One can imagine how horrible the experience would be. But ordinary people will be judged according to their knowledge, understanding, and excuses on the day of judgment. So if the prophet had the privilege of seeing what we believe as unseen, their job was much more difficult.

As far as the conduct of the person is concerned, the prophet’s example is an epitome to follow, so that we may have a model to follow. However, we will not be judged whether we were as good as a prophet, but according to our capacity, that is how good we did.

If normal muslims test is less severe then prophets test then why allah (swt) asks us to supplicate with their duas like various quranic duas (usually they are printed in form of 40 rabbana booklets) ?

    Or

    Example :

This hadith which points muslims to use the wording of prophet yunus : https://sunnah.com/tirmidhi:3505

Allah did not ask us to supplicate their duas. However, what is wrong with it? These are in general sever for us too in our capacity.

Nothing wrong with the dua’s itself but these dua’s where accepted in a snap for prophets {example of yunus(a.s) when recited that verse only once in the belly of whale} i.e quick result and whereas muslims continue to recite these dua’s (n) number of times yet they don’t even know what’s happening with their dua’s.

If normal muslim’s test is less severe, then the dua’s should have faster effect for non-prophets then it had on prophets.

Apparently, it looks like that these dua’s had effect only on prophets and messengers tongue.

Prophets came to let us know that God does involve Himself in worldly affairs and He will hold us accountable in the hereafter for our deeds. Not all the prayers of the prophets were granted. They were told why their prayers are not granted. These demonstrations were staged by God to let us know that God does exist and how He works and what are His principles.

The actual scheme for which this world and we are created to have belief in the unseen God and lead a righteous life. It was never a scheme to deal with every individual the way prophets were dealt with. This is our test to believe in Him and trust His wisdom which is proven through prophets that it is always right in the light of His absolute knowledge.

What about the combination of quran’s verse from surah fatiha i.e siratal lazina anamta alayhim and answer is given that – minan nabiyeen wa siddiqeen wa shuhada wa saliheen.

God is asking to walk on the path of ambiya ? or is he saying that the people who obey allah and messenger will be with the prophets in jannah.

Both. We are asked to obey and follow their path that how to worship and obey God and succeed in the test the in best manner, and then we will be rewarded to be in Jannah with them.

Since the test is in accordance with the knowledge and understanding of the individual, the knowledge of the prophets is far superior, they were shown the Unseen, therefore the criteria of their test for them is stricter than that of ours.
