    The Quranic verse quoted above was very specific in its application and involves a diective for prophet Muhammad (sws) to seek forgiveness from Allah continuously for himself and for the rest of the Muslims because Divine Punishment was very close for the rejectors.

    For Ahadith which appear to give isolated gladtidings or Isolated warnings of extreme punishment, they must be seen in the light of the following principle:

    As for the Hadith mentioned in the question, if the chain is strong and acceptable, then there is no reason to not accept its content, because if a Muslim fulfills the criteria for Jannah on the day of judgement, then these small gestures/good deeds will be mangified into great blessings over above the minimum criteria. We cannot put a limit on Allah’s blessings after one qualifies for Jannah.

    But is the rule which is at point number 2 in my question. Is that a valid rule from scholarly works. ?

      Yes, Ahadith on Fazail are usually fabricated especially the ones which promote azkar/Tashib in return for some worldly benefit. But this can be determined easily by studying their chain, if available. And if the chain is not availabe, then there is no need to even take that narration seriously.
