  • Use Of Synthetic Wig? Wudu And Ghusl Over Wig?

Posted by Behzad Khan on April 15, 2023 at 6:18 am

    Asalam u alaikum!

My understanding on usage of wigs is that a wig made of human hair should not be used by men or women if the hair that wig is made of belong to someone else. Is this correct?

But if the wig is of synthetic material or nowadays there is a new wig called Cyber hair then it is allowed for both men and women to wear it and offer prayer while wearing it. Is this correct?

But the intention of the person who is wearing it shouldn’t be of cheating or misleading but to protect themselves from embarrassment that they feel after losing hair due to an illness or standard hair shedding they experience due to the aging process. Kindly throw some light on it please.

    JazakaAllah!

Is Ghusl accepted with the artificial wig which doesn’t let water go to head skin.

For Wudu: Masah can be done over wig.

For Ghusl: The wig needs to be taken off.

Masah on the wig is the same as on the head.

If the wig is removable, it should be taken off for Ghusal. If it is not removable, it is considered part of the body and should be washed as it is.
