  • Guarding Private Parts From Your Own Self As A Prohibition Of Masturbation

I get these thoughts sometimes that masturbation might be prohibited that guarding private parts might mean to guard it from yourself also not just from others except your wife. Although this doesn’t make any sense to me and based on my knowledge and reasoning that it doesn’t cause any problems to nafs I don’t consider it prohibited but there is that little doubt that comes to my mind again and again. Can you shed light on this please?

Guarding from one’s own self must entail harm or ethical objection. If masturbation is not harmful to one’s own self and if no ethical objection can be pointed out, it cannot be declared prohibited.
