Imam Mehdi, Hazrat Muawiyah (rta) And Ghamidi Sahab's Changed Opinion
Assalamualaikum!
I recently bought the newest version of Meezan by Ghamidi Saheb. In there it is mentioned that the narrations about coming of a just ruler aka Mehdi, probably refer to Hz Muawiyah (RA) as he was the last ruler of Khair Ul Quroon.
How did Ghamidi Saheb reach this conclusion?

The prophet said that at the end of his era, there would be a just and generous ruler. The time of Hazrat Muawiah was right at the end of the era of the companions. and his justice and generosity are evident in history. He qualifies the criteria provided in the predictions.

This conclusion was reached by Ghamidi Sahab after his work on Hadith project on the following narrations:
Previously Ghamidi Sahab was of view that narrations on Imam Mahdi apply to Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz.
