  • Difference Between A Mushrik (idolator) And A Kafir

When Allah says in Quran that’s he won’t forgive shirk nor he would allow people committing shirk enter heaven is He referring to all kinds of shirk? Even those present in Muslims?

And the punishment of an idolator and kafir are eternal hell but why in the times of prophet peace be upon him people were asked not to be friends with kafir but can be be friends with idolators when the punishment is same in afterlife for both of them.

And can’t we say that if a person agrees that he is a idolator that his punishment is eternal hell after he dies because it’s mentioned in the Quran? If so then why?

Kufr means deliberately denying a truth. A Mushrik believes in something for which he has no grounds, no proof that there is more than one God. When he is reminded that his beliefs are false and he refused to comply, the becomes kafir. So kafir and Mushrik are not two different people.

if a Muslim practices shirk, the same punishment will apply to him too.

The Muslims in the time of the prophet were forbidden from making or maintaining a friendship with mushrik (kafir) because Huuajat has been completed on them and God had announced that they deliberately denied the truth after it had come to them and they were going to be perished by the swords of the companions of the prophet.

This does not apply to the modern Musrik because to know for sure that he or she has realized the truth and still denying it deliberately is about intention, and intention is known only to God. and we have no way after the prophet to know the verdict of God in this regard. All we can do is to tell the truth of Islam to the best of our knowledge and rest the result with God.

So the punishment of shirk will be applied even if the person is not deliberately adhere to shrik?

      You said that

When he is reminded that his beliefs are false and he refused to comply, the becomes kafir.

If he (a mushrik)denied that his beliefs are wrong he immediately becomes kafir? Even if he wasn’t convinced at that time that he is wrong

One becomes kafir when one denies a truth deliberately. If he is not convinced honestly, his denial is not deliberately denying the truth.

Those who were declared kafir in Quran they are destined to go to hell.

And for every kind of shirk may it be minor like believing in palmistry the punishment is eternal hell?

Palmistry isn’t a decent example because it’s not necessarily shirk Discussion 55390

Secondly Shirk is condemned in Qur’an as a belief system. A mushrik that openly accepts he is a mushrik even after the truth been revealed and spends his life actively worshiping gods besides Allah has a lot to answer for. He is indeed deliberate especially when he does it in the face of a Rasuul. (Qur’an 25:41-42)

In case of Rasuul in this life, Allah judge people on what they openly claim to be, mushrik were to be punished, Jews/Christians were dominated politically and Muslims were rewarded in this life but this is not done until everyone is convinced which is what Itmam-e-Hujjat means, to convince all or at least keep a channel (Rasuul) open for people, to analyze the news of Allah and be convinced, long enough as a expression of Allah’s mercy and tolerance before His judgment comes. This is also why Allah separates believers from kafir in Rasuul’s time, to prepare for judgment.

The way Allah will handle judgment after death will be different, everyone will be judged on case to case basis and every secrets and intentions will be revealed. Then whoever deserve forgiveness will have it, and whoever deserve punishment will face whatever Allah chooses.

And can we say for a person who commits shirk that he won’t be going to heaven or he is going to hell because these punishments are mentioned in quran?

I really doubt that Iblees, Firoon, Abu Lahab or any of the obvious figures in Qur’an that Allah have shown anger towards will find their ways into Paradise.

But whether they will go to Hell or not. Forever or temporary, and so on are going to be decided by Allah.

For a modern case where no Rasuul and judgment of Allah has been revealed. We can’t say for sure but I must advise that the judgment of a mushrik will be harsh. Because in court of Allah when every guilty person will defend themselves, the mushrik will have the most hard time proving his case. Qur’an depicts that they will lose the defence. Then Allah will decide what will happen. Most likely eternal Hell or whatever Allah chooses if He chooses to be merciful. But a mushrik that knows the truth should not be confident or hopeful for this.

A Muslim can’t go around telling people where they will go after death. Only Allah can do that. The entire point of Day of Judgment is to see what Allah’s actual judgment is.
